Youth Safety Plan
At Hope Rising, the safety and well-being of every participant is our highest priority. All programs, activities, and travel experiences are designed with clear safeguards to ensure a secure, supportive environment for youth, volunteers, and staff.
1. Two-Leader Policy

A minimum of two approved adult leaders will be present at all activities, meetings, and travel experiences.

Leaders will never be alone with a single youth in a private setting.

All adult leaders and volunteers must complete:

2. Buddy System

Youth participants will be paired with a designated buddy during all activities and travel.

Buddies are responsible for:

Staying together during events, outings, and transitions.

Checking in with leaders if assistance is needed.

Headcounts will be conducted regularly to ensure all participants are accounted for.
3. Verified Safety of Activities

All activities will be pre-screened for safety, age-appropriateness, and supervision needs.

Leaders will:

Assess potential risks before each activity.

Provide clear instructions and expectations.

Ensure proper equipment and supervision are in place.

Emergency contact information and basic first-aid supplies will be available at all events.
4. Safe Travel Practices

All travel arrangements will be planned, reviewed, and approved in advance.

Travel itineraries, contact information, and emergency procedures will be shared with parents or guardians before departure.

Youth will remain with group or share location at all times.
5. Communication and Check-In Procedures

Leaders will maintain regular communication with participants and, when applicable, parents or guardians.

Check-in points will be established during longer activities or travel days.

Emergency contacts and medical information will be accessible to designated leaders.
6. Emergency and Backup Plans

Each activity or trip will include a backup plan in case of:

Weather concerns

Transportation issues

Safety or security risks

Leaders will be trained on emergency procedures, including:

First aid response

Evacuation or shelter plans

Communication with guardians and authorities if needed

7. Code of Conduct
